Go Where You Go (Pitt)

On Saturday, North Carolina will play in front of a home crowd for the first time in 309 days.

The Tar Heels (0-2) are finally back for their home-opener this week. They’ll face a Pittsburgh (2-1) team who has had a solid start to the season and is trying to beat UNC for the first time since joining the ACC. The Panthers’ strong rushing attack poses a problem for the Carolina defense, which gave up nearly 400 yards and five touchdowns on the ground in the opening two games. UNC will have to contain Pitt’s redshirt senior running back Qadree Ollison and mobile quarterback Kenny Pickett in order to slow down the Panthers.

We’ll have to see if the Heels can turn things around and use the home crowd as fuel to earn their first win. Hopefully the extra week of rest from Hurricane Florence has helped motivate players and fans alike to really make a big impact in Kenan!

But before kickoff, there are many activities around campus for UNC fans to check out and get excited for the game.

Here's your game day guide for Saturday morning:

9:50 AM: Team arrival at Bell Tower Park

Welcome and cheer on the football team as they do their victory walk into Kenan Stadium! Visit promotional tents and hear the Marching Tar Heels play your favorite fight songs.

10:00 AM: Tar Heel Town at Polk Place

Whether you’re looking for a tailgating spot, visiting other Carolina fans, or looking for a break from your walk to the stadium, stop by UNC’s main academic quad before kickoff. There’s music, games, and food: an all-around fun time.

10:50 AM: UNC Drumline Performance in the Pit

The drumline performs their cadences for the first time this season! Drop by to see us warm up, hear some spicy beats, and join the rest of the band in dancing along!

11:20 AM: Marching Tar Heels Performance at Wilson Library and March to the Stadium

The entire UNC marching band gathers together to play for those hanging out at Tar Heel Town. Hear fight songs and other fan-favorites as they head toward Kenan for their pregame performance!

12:20 PM: Kickoff against Pitt in Kenan Stadium

Tar Heel football is back in Chapel Hill! It’s the debut of seatbacks! (Hopefully) we'll see our first Carolina victory of the season!

Halftime

The Marching Tar Heels will perform with the Honors High School Band, welcoming hundreds of high school band students from all over the country to play an upbeat Panic at the Disco! show.

After the Game

Stick around long enough to sing the alma mater, ‘Hark the Sound,’ and James Taylor’s ‘Carolina in My Mind.’

See you Saturday!
