The winter storm that arrived in central North Carolina on Wednesday brought out the inner child in many Tar Heels, including Argyle Report writers and photographers. Our Alex Kormann captured a snowball fight (that some of our staff were party to), and Caleb Jones snuck over for some great shots of the Old Well.
Don't miss Alex's photo gallery.
The middle pictures of this gallery depict the events of the "Biggest UNC Snowball Fight EVER," by the event's Facebook title. Argyle Report's Sam Doughton was on the front lines for the fight.
"It was one of the purest amounts of fun I've had in my time at UNC," Doughton said. "We divided into two groups of roughly equal size and took turns charging at one another in straight lines like we were soldiers in the Revolutionary War. Of course, we were armed with snowballs instead of muskets.
"I really enjoyed folks' creativity in attack patterns and defenses. One group got a large umbrella from some where to use as a shield against the other side's volleys. Other's made huge snowballs and rolled them around Polk Place as a portable trench. More than one snowman was decapitated so folks had easy snowballs to form, or in one case, to take the high ground a la Obi-Wan Kenobi.
"But the best part was the fun everyone had. No one took themselves too seriously. We all charged with reckless abandon, taking snowballs off backs, legs, and even heads without fear. We all got really into it, and it was a blast to be a part of."
