Hey everyone. Turner here. We've been blown away by the response to Argyle Report, and we're not even a week underway. We launched at 9 am on Tuesday, and the reaction was immediate.
Trent Brown, whose Twitter profile pic is sideways, chimed in early.
SportsChannel8 too was on top of things. Um, thanks?
C. Jackson Cowart, whose name you'll see on a lot of stories this year, expressed his appreciation for them many people involved.
And I myself got on the shameless train early.
The Carolina Volleyball program gave us an early shout-out. That was nice of them.
By far our biggest traffic-driver has been Will Bryant's brilliant column on what we mean when we as Tar Heels say 'we.' As of late Friday afternoon, Will's column was responsible for more than 35 percent of our traffic.
I'm glad you wrote it! I know it's three days in, but y'all got something special brewing at Argyle Report.— Mikey in DFW (@MDWDFW) August 3, 2017
But it didn't take long for the haters to find us. Welcome, obsessives!
The scandal you failed to mention did start with a tweet. But you did manage to say UNC athletes are the best on and off the field. <snort> https://t.co/a1WEwdZBnP— Winger (@eqslick) August 1, 2017
We didn't promise objectivity, Devil DJ! And those pants are hot.
Never fear, Argolytes! Those internet big-boys didn't get us down; they inspired this clapback.
We don't have an office per se, but some rival school fans have indicated we can live rent-free in their heads! So generous!— Argyle Report (@ArgyleReport) August 2, 2017
But let's not focus on the negative.
Tuesday evening, some musings on a treadmill led to a huge response about Franklin Street bygones. Look for a story next week.
The Franklin Street area has lost Old Chicago. The Rat, Miami Subs, Pepper's...What's your most-missed Franklin Street institution?— Argyle Report (@ArgyleReport) August 1, 2017
By the end of the day Tuesday, I was exhausted and exhilarated.
Wednesday morning as Tar Heel football kicked off training camp, this tweet got some play.
and later Sam Doughton stepped in with our first camp report of the year (and all time, for us).
And on Thursday we published Jeremy Vernon's women's soccer season preview.
All week we've been happy to see things like this. You all believe in us and are a part of this as well.
You all are still finding us, and you're telling your friends. We love it.
We plan to spread our wings a little bit - we won't be limited to just sports. Friday, Bryce Lapping chimed in with the first of his regular columns about life in the Marching Tar Heels.
Late in the week, we got the design files back from our new logo. Look for it on Monday.
Do you like our logo? Well, sorry, it’s the Argyle Creative Media logo (our parent company). New AR logo debuts Monday!— Argyle Report (@ArgyleReport) August 4, 2017
