Thursday's Headlines

Argyle A.M. - August 10, 2017

Turner here. It's Thursday already! Football practice is open to media today for the first 30 minutes. Players and coaches are available afterward, so I'll have a practice report late this afternoon.

Yesterday at Argyle, we spoke with Myroslav Golodynskiy, a Tar Heel fan in Ukraine who's trying to make the trip to the Smith Center for his first live Carolina basketball game.

Additionally, Will Bryant chimed in with this week's playlist, which included Summer Jams from Tar Heel athletes as well as AR staff.

Over on Twitter, we want to know your best Carolina-themed fantasy football team names. Best names earn spots in our staff league this fall!

Today, we have a post coming from Bryce Lapping on the depth along the Tar Heel offensive line, and a guest post from John Tobben on the Tar Heel Football - Jordan Brand collaboration.

Be sure to check us out on TwitterFacebook, and at our Patreon page. Also, be sure to check out the Argyle Report SnapChat: @argylereport. We'll be updating it with images and videos of our adventures as we cover UNC athletics.

Corey's Brother

The last weekend in August will be Players Weekend in Major League Baseball, when for the first time players will be allowed to wear nicknames on the backs of their jerseys. The Seattle Mariners' Kyle Seager is going with 'Corey's Brother' in tribute to the Los Angeles Dodgers' 2016 NL Rookie of the Year.
Corey, meanwhile, appears to be going with 'Seager.' So . . . um . . . great. That's also Kyle's last name, so there's that.

Just Blaze, J.B.

Former Tar Heel J.B. Bukauskas will make his first start with the Tri-City ValleyCats tonight.

B-Rob knows a bad idea when he sees one

Rising sophomore Brandon Robinson chimed in with his thoughts on an interaction between Stanley Robinson and Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy, and how Roy Williams might handle it.

Coming Up at Argyle Report

Friday, watch for a report from Marie McCool's experience playing in the Women's Lacrosse World Cup and World Games and a whole bunch of your favorite memories of bygone Franklin Street establishments. All that and more on Argyle Report this week!

Dave Lohse is the esteemed associate athletic director for communications at Carolina and works with the women's soccer, swimming and diving and men's lacrosse teams. Openly gay, Lohse penned an insightful column for this summer's COSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) magazine.
