The sixth week of the NFL regular season kicked off in Charlotte where the Philadelphia Eagles and Mack Hollins played against the Carolina Panthers and Julius Peppers. Hollins had 38 receiving yards while Peppers finished with one tackle, one sack, and one forced fumble. The Eagles went home with a 28-23 win over the Panthers.
The week continued with 24 teams playing on Sunday. The Chicago Bears visited the Baltimore Ravens in an exciting Sunday afternoon game. Both former Tar Heels Mitch Trubisky and Connor Barth led the Bears to a close 27-24 victory against the Ravens. Trubisky went 8-16 passing for 113 yards and one touchdown. Barth made three extra-point attempts, a 24-yard field goal, and a 40-yard game-winning field goal in overtime for the Chicago Bears.
In another exciting Sunday afternoon game, the San Francisco 49ers played Washington. Linebacker Zach Brown had six tackles, two assists, and one tackle for loss in Washington's defeat of the 49ers.
Eric Ebron and the Detroit Lions went to New Orleans to take on the Saints. The Lions came close to coming back from a 21-point deficit at halftime but could not quite make the finish. Ebron finished with nine receiving yards as the Lions went home with a 38-52 loss to the Saints.
Tampa Bay visited the Arizona Cardinals. Kareem Martin had three tackles and one assist for the Cardinals as they beat the Buccaneers 38-33.
The Los Angeles Rams played against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Rams linebacker Robert Quinn had two tackles in the Rams’ 27-17 win against the Jaguars.
Tre Boston was the final former Tar Heel to take the field on Sunday as the Los Angeles Chargers visited the Oakland Raiders. Boston had five tackles and one assist as the Chargers just barely beat the Raiders 17-16.
Finishing out week six, the Indianapolis Colts went to Tennessee to play the Titans. Titans safety Da’Norris Searcy had one tackle and one assist as the Titans won 36-22.
